Did you notice how over night some gambling rooms, online casinos and poker rooms stopped taking your bets, or refused to give you access to their site. Well the American government decided that because the online gambling market is so vast and they could not control it. (i.e. collect the tax). The American government decided to pass a law known as "The Security and Accountability For Every Port Act of 2006 (or SAFE Port Act, Pub.L. 109-347) is an Act of Congress in the United States that covers port security and online gambling." Also known as the "Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006".
This now prohibits the transfer of all funds in conjunction with any internet gambling website, except a few that are not governed by American financial institutions. What this loosly means is that. America Banned companys who are based, or operate within the borders of the USA from processing financial transactions to do with any form of online gambling. They basically cut the process of gambling off at its source. The financial institutions that help us transfer money around.
Infact Party Gaming known as Party Poker lost 60% of its companys worth in 24hrs as a result of the ruling along with hundreds of other online gambling websites. The Party Gaming company was then demoted from the FTSE 100 to the FTSE 250 Index on the London Stock Exchange.
There are a few execptions to the new ruling. There are some online casinos and poker rooms that still process American transactions - check out the top of our reviews to see if they are available to you.
